Pollock, Walter

Walter Pollock was born on April 10, 1923 to John and Frances Kuprewisz Pollock  who lived in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. He was one of seven children. His parents immigrated from Poland in 1913.  His father, John, was a laborer at Lukens Steel. 

Walter married Marie K. Groff in Wilmington, Delaware on October 6, 1942. 

Walter entered service in the Army on July 16, 1942. He trained at Fort Belvoir, Virginia and was sent overseas to the European Theater of Operations in August, 1944. Walter served with the 527th engineers which participated in the Battle of the Bulge.

Technician 4th Walter Pollock was killed in action on January 16, 1945, in Lorraine, France.  He was first repoted as "Missing In Action" on December 22nd. Walter is remembered at the Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial at Saint-Avold, Lorraine, France
