Willard Calvin Miller was born on May 13, 1915 to Charles and Mabel Miller of Farrandsville, Pennsylvania. Willard was one of four children. His father, worked at a brickyard.
Willard married Lydia Francis Morton in 1939. He worked for the R.K. Griffen Company as a woodworker.
Willard entered into service in the Army on May 18, 1945. He was sent overseas to the European Theater of Operations

Swept overboard and lost at sea in rough weather while in transit across the Atlantic Ocean to Le Havre, France, aboard the Cruise USS Boise.
A memorial stone was placed for Willard at the St. Agnes Cemetery in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. Willard's wife, Lydia died in 2014.
